Write extended and technical pieces for diverse audiences and purposes.
What students need to be able to do
- Write extended pieces introducing topics clearly with well-defined theses and organizational structures.
- Develop topics through sustained use of significant facts, details, quotations, or other information from multiple sources.
- Provide concluding sections that follow from the information or explanation presented.
- Write technical pieces describing personal qualifications for occupational or educational opportunities.
- Generate technical writing (e.g., job description, questionnaire, job application) addressing specific audiences.
- Blend multiple modes of writing, adapting vocabulary, voice, and tone for range of audiences and purposes.
