What students need to be able to do
- Report orally on a topic or text or present an opinion.
- Select modes and purposes for presentations and synthesize multiple streams of information.
- Choose appropriate vocabulary, language, and tone for selected topic, purpose, context, and audience.
- Incorporate rhetorical devices to enhance purpose and clarity of ideas.
- Anticipate and address alternative or opposing perspectives and counterclaims.
- Monitor audience engagement and adjust delivery accordingly.
- Memorize and recite an excerpt or monologue from a dramatic work, conveying intended tone and mood.
