Quantum Mechanics and Relativity
Virginia SOL PHII.8
Investigate quantum mechanics, general relativity, and special relativity and their implications for space and time.
What students need to be able to do
- Compare classical and quantum models in explaining the photoelectric effect.
- Describe the effect of gravitational fields on how light travels.
- Compare how very large and very small systems are approached in classical physics and modern physics.
- Research and communicate technological advancements that use the properties of the Doppler Effect, gravitational wave variation, relativity, or quantum mechanics.
