What students need to be able to do

  • Develop and use models and mathematical representations to describe energy, pressure, temperature, and volume in real-world systems.
  • Plan and conduct an investigation to predict relationships between fluid pressure, velocity, and elevation.
  • Apply concepts of laminar fluid flow to real-world systems.
  • Develop and use a model to explain how mechanical advantage can be made by confined fluids.
  • Use data and evidence to explain fluid movement through a system by applying principles of conservation laws.
  • Identify a simple problem in a system of fluid flow and justify a solution through the application of Bernoulli's principle.
