Force, Motion, and Energy
Virginia SOL 5.3.FME.2
Investigate the relationship between force and energy of moving objects.
What students need to be able to do
- Recognize that moving objects have kinetic energy.
- Describe motion by an object’s direction and speed.
- Recognize that changes in motion are related to net force and mass.
- Explain how contact forces transfer energy during collisions and change motion.
- Identify friction as a force that opposes motion.
