Earth's Internal and Surface Processes
Virginia SOL ESII.3
Investigate and understand that Earth's internal and surface processes produce changes in continental and ocean-floor features.
What students need to be able to do
- Develop and use a model to explain the relationships between plate boundaries and predict phenomena.
- Develop and use a model to explain plate motion.
- Make, support, and evaluate claims about the cycling of matter, ages of rocks, distribution of rocks and minerals, and the formation of continental and oceanic features.
- Explain changes in Earth's surface features by analyzing seismic data (frequency of events, location, depth, magnitude, and stress).
- Explain the relationship between magma composition and resulting internal and surface features.
