What students need to be able to do

• Sort and classify concrete objects into subsets based on one attribute (e.g., size, shape, color, thickness).
• Describe and label attributes of a sorted set of objects (e.g., size, color, shape).
• Pose questions requiring data collection limited to 25 or fewer data points for no more than four categories.
• Determine data needed to answer a posed question and collect data using methods like counting objects or drawing pictures.
• Organize and represent a data set as an object graph by sorting concrete objects into organized groups.
• Organize and represent a data set as a picture graph using pictures to form a simple graph.
• Analyze data in object graphs and picture graphs by asking and answering questions about the data.
• Draw conclusions and make predictions based on data in object graphs and picture graphs.
