What students need to be able to do

• Use one-to-one correspondence to count objects in a set of 30 or fewer and identify the total number.
• Recognize that the number of objects remains the same regardless of arrangement or order.
• Represent forward counting by ones using tools like five-frames, ten-frames, and number paths.
• Count forward orally by ones from 0 to 100.
• Count forward orally by ones within 100 starting at any given number.
• Count backward orally by ones from a number between 1 and 20.
• State the number after a given number between 0 and 30 without counting.
• State the number before a given number between 1 and 20 without counting.
• Compose and decompose numbers 11-19 into a ten and some ones using objects, drawings, words, or numbers.
• Group up to 100 objects into sets of ten and count by tens to determine the total.
