What students need to be able to do
- Given a preimage in the coordinate plane, identify the coordinates of the image of a polygon after vertical, horizontal, or combined translation.
- Given a preimage in the coordinate plane, identify the coordinates of the image of a polygon after reflection over the x- or y-axis.
- Given a preimage in the coordinate plane, identify the coordinates of the image of a polygon after translation and reflection (in any order).
- Sketch the image of a polygon after vertical, horizontal, or combined translation.
- Sketch the image of a polygon after reflection over the x- or y-axis.
- Sketch the image of a polygon after translation and reflection (in any order).
- Identify and describe transformations in context (e.g., tiling, fabric, wallpaper designs, art).
