Probability and Statistics
Virginia SOL 6.PS.1
Apply the data cycle with a focus on circle graphs.
What students need to be able to do
- Formulate questions that require the collection or acquisition of data with a focus on circle graphs.
- Determine the data needed to answer a formulated question and collect the data using observations, measurement, surveys, or experiments.
- Determine factors that ensure collected data is a representative sample of a larger population.
- Organize and represent data using circle graphs with and without technology tools. Limit data values to allow comparisons with denominators ≤12 or factors of 100.
- Analyze data represented in a circle graph by making observations and drawing conclusions.
- Compare data represented in a circle graph with the same data represented in other graphs (bar graphs, pictographs, line plots) and justify the best representation.
