What students need to be able to do

  • Simplify an expression containing absolute value bars and an operation with two integers (e.g., –|5 – 8| or |–3| + |–4|) and represent the result on a number line.
  • Estimate, determine, and justify solutions to one- and two-step contextual problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with integers.
