What students need to be able to do
- Define storytelling and explain its importance in data science communication.
- Explain the steps involved in data storytelling and its relation to the data cycle.
- Identify a story worth telling based on data trends, correlations, outliers, questions, or hypotheses.
- Select visualizations that simplify information, highlight key data, and communicate points quickly.
- Simplify information to focus audience attention on key parameters supporting a hypothesis.
- Form a narrative based on data to provide context, insight, and interpretation for an audience.
- Ensure data storytelling includes complete, accurate information and consistent visuals.
