What students need to be able to do

  • Distinguish how different Indigenous peoples of North America used available resources to develop their culture, language, skills, and perspectives.
  • Describe the entrepreneurial characteristics of early explorers and the technological developments that enabled nautical exploration.
  • Connect the aims, obstacles, and accomplishments of key expeditions to the Spanish Reconquista, Protestant Reformation, and Counter-Reformation.
  • Examine trade routes, resources, and products that linked Africa, the West Indies, the American colonies, and Europe.
