Conduct research and synthesize information from multiple sources.
What students need to be able to do
- Formulate appropriately narrow research questions and refocus the inquiry when necessary.
- Collect information from multiple sources using effective search terms.
- Organize and synthesize information from multiple sources, evaluating relevance, usefulness, validity, and credibility.
- Develop notes that include important concepts and summaries, quoting, summarizing, and paraphrasing research findings.
- Avoid plagiarism by using own words and following ethical and legal guidelines for gathering and using information.
- Organize and share findings in formal and informal oral or written formats.
- Give credit for information quoted or paraphrased using standard citations.
- Demonstrate ethical and responsible use of all sources, including the Internet, AI, and new technologies.
