Conduct research, evaluate sources, and synthesize information ethically.
What students need to be able to do
- Formulate and revise research questions, broadening or narrowing inquiry as necessary.
- Gather and organize information from various sources.
- Objectively evaluate primary and secondary sources for credibility, reliability, accuracy, and bias.
- Synthesize multiple streams of evidence to support claims and acknowledge counterclaims.
- Create research products aligned with reading and writing standards.
- Cite sources for quoted and paraphrased ideas using MLA or APA documentation.
- Define plagiarism and follow ethical and legal guidelines for gathering and using information.
- Demonstrate ethical and responsible use of all sources, including Internet, AI, and new technologies.
