  • Evaluate how authors use word choice, syntax, tone, and voice to convey intent and viewpoint.
  • Critique how authors use literary devices to contribute to meaning.
  • Analyze the use of satire, sarcasm, irony, and understatement to differentiate between stated and implied meanings.
