What students need to be able to do
- Read a variety of grade-level complex texts with accuracy, automaticity, appropriate rate, and meaningful expression.
- Monitor reading to confirm or self-correct word recognition and understanding.
- Proficiently read and comprehend literary and informational texts at the lower range of grades 11-12 complexity.
- Draw evidence from grade-level complex texts to support claims, conclusions, and inferences.
- Trace the location of relevant evidence in texts.
- Read a series of conceptually related texts to build knowledge and vocabulary.
- Use reading strategies to aid and monitor comprehension of challenging text sections.
