- Use complex sentence structure with main and subordinate clauses and subordinating conjunctions.
- Recognize and use active and passive voice to convey desired effects.
- Use subordination, coordination, apposition, and other devices to indicate relationships between ideas.
- Maintain consistent verb tense in speaking and writing.
